Welcome to India - the holy land of ancient civilization. Global Conference on Traditional Physical Cultures, Sports and Games scheduled on 15-17 January 2013 is the reason to invite you to India. Join us to explore and enjoy the tangible and intangible heritage of India known for its diversity. Diversity of languages, costumes, religions, rituals, flora and fauna, climate, food habits, sports and games, art and architecture, music, dances, festivals and pastimes.
It is most encouraging to note that UNESCO has given special status to traditional sports and games by declaring them as "Intangible Heritage" and also adopted several measures to protect, preserve and promote these activities, some of which are on the verge of extinction. Traditional sports and games developed and preserved in various countries of the World since last many centuries need to be encouraged by providing them proper platform and media projection. Physical displays for showcasing this hidden treasure, introducing them in school curricula, cultural exchange of scholars and sports persons, promoting research in these activities, establishing institutions and running training courses in traditional sports and games would be some of the immediate measures to keep going these activities.
These activities should also be viewed as a means for better understanding of cultures of each others and strengthen the ties of global friendship. The Global Conference is based and organized on the said ideology and principles by the host institution- Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal Amravati on the occasion of its glorious 100 years in the field of traditional physical culture, sports and games.
Amravati, though a small city, a district head-quarter, has mythological origin and past history of many centuries. People of different states of India have given special color to its city culture. Unity in diversity is observed in its socio-political life. Spoken languages are Marathi and Hindi with considerable understanding of the English. Hope, the international and Indian delegates will enjoy program of the Conference and will carry with them sweet memories of this historical event.
